Artist’s Statement

My drawings showcase societal and cultural icons combined with flora or other natural items indigenous to the tropical landscape. This combination creates elaborate, unique pieces distinguished by rich values, unusual imagery, dynamic shapes, captivating forms, and compositions of concealed balance. Through my work, I offer original interpretations of classical compositions and artistic elements. My drawings are one-of-a-kind creations showing my versatility in the use of various medium; namely, graphite and color pencils, ink, pastels, acrylics, and the use of mix media. With these, I create images rich in light, texture, and form. I pay meticulous attention to details and originality of technique, demonstrating a full range of artistic skill.

I take great pleasure and pride in all my drawings. My portrayals, however, are not meant to be passive of just eye pleasing. I create active, thought-provoking images to stimulate and challenge the intellect of the viewer.

Abstract Compositions:

In this series of drawings, I create exciting abstract compositions of concealed balance, inspired by the shapes, patterns, forms, and rhythms I observe in nature and in the human-made modern landscapes. I combine design principles to create a world of movement, visual excitement, speed, and other elements that will keep the viewer moving about the surface of the art piece discovering new visual treasures. Each drawing is a one-of-a kind abstract compositions in which I illustrate my interpretation of contemporary life surrounded by nature and the human-made landscape.
